Day 10

Busy with school all day there isn't much to eat downtown that is vegetarian. Today, I ate a cheese panini and some chips and salsa. Not my favorite. Last night we eneded up eating Veggie Burgers instead of pasta. They were really good. I like veggie over soy, but soy is not that bad. Tonight, I played poker at Matt's place. Bonk was there cooking 15 pounds of chicken, because his power went out and he had to cook it all before it went bad. It's really funny! We were playing cards and Bonk was serving everyone chicken. He asked me if I wanted one and I told him yeah! He made it for me and I was like, "Shit!" I forgot that I couldn't eat it. Even though it's been 10 days I still don't feel like a veggetarian yet. The only time I think about it is when I'm about to eat.

Today's Menu:

Day 9

I have been really busy lately and haven't had much time to post. I will keep you updated daily from now on. I will talk about today then catch you guys up.

I am really getting into this "no meat" thing. I do miss the convienence of eating meat. Emily and I ate at a place called, Karyn Cooked. It is a vegan restuarant located at wells and superior in the city. It was fantastic! There food was great! We tried these soy and tofu meat skewers in a peanut sauce and they were delicious. They tasted like real meat. I had the portobella mushroom sandwich with creamy garlic sauce. Emily had a taco-tofu salad. For desert we had banana cake, which was awesome! The icing was a buttercreme tofu blend and was out of this world! Great choice....Emily found it online.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: Mango

Lunch: Soy and Tofu Meat Skewers, Portobella Mushroom Sandwich, and a slice of Banana Cake

Dinner: Probably Pasta with Marinara Sauce

Celebrity Vegetarian of the Day: Rachel McAdams

Emily and I went to a wedding this weekend and it was hard not to eat all the delicious things that were served. I had some Mancotti with a orange salad and a twice baked potato. Lately, I have been eating fruit and cereal for breakfast. We did go to Chipotle last Wednesday and I ordered a bean burrio with chips and salsa. Not bad at all. Emily made soy burgers again, and this time I loved them! They tasted so much better than last time. I don't mind them at all now. I think I over cooked them last time. Mango has become on of my favorite fruits now, I didn't even think I liked mango before. I am learning a lot about what I will eat and what I have eaten in the past. Only at day 9, we haven't even begun to scratch the surface!

Day 4

Alright we are getting a little better. I ate more today and I didn't just eat crap. We added more fruit and vegetables to our diet. I feel like I have more energy today. After a full day of classes and an hours and half of volleyball, I was ready to get home and eat dinner. We went shopping for food tonight and bought a lot of shit. I had no idea how expensive meat was. We got more than you usually get and it was cheaper than usual. I didn't care too much for walking past the meat in the store. It made me want some steak or a brat. I did see that you can get almost anythin with a meat substitute. NONE looked worth trying. Uncle Jerry recommended some corn dogs by Morningstar and told me they taste just like regular ones. We shall see. I think I wouldn't mind some fake bacon.

Today's Menu:

Day 3

It's getting harder already to get through the day with out snacking on something that doesn't contain meat. I wanted something greasy today, and had fried mushrooms instead of a hamburger. We went over to Matt's for the Cub's game and ended up ordering a cheese pizza. Matt got half sausage which was very tempting. As far as sticking to the diet, I think I am 100% good. I'm not going to eat meat, because I can't take it any longer and reach a breaking point. (I say this now) I find myself eating less, which isn't that great. I need to get healthy snacks so I have enough energy to get through the day.

Day 2

Since we are slowly easing into the diet, I had cheese pizza for lunch. I felt much better as I got to sleep in. We went for a bike ride in the afternoon and then I had a softball game at night. By the time I got home I was real hungry. I grilled soy burgers for dinner. I am not a fan of soy at all. I could have seasoned the patties, but I just had it with cheese and pickles. After taking a bite I immediately wanted a REAL burger. This will be a long month and a half!

And Now a Vegetarian Cartoon:

Introduction

Hello friends! I started this blog to record my experiences over the next 45 days. I have decided to become a vegetarian just to see what all the fuss is about. I wanted to mix things up, so here I go. The rule is absolutely no meat of any kind. I'll still eat dairy products, so I won't be a vegan. If anything this will amuse and entertain you while I suffer the withdrawals of a steady meat diet.

Day 1

Today was an interesting start to my new diet. Today, is Saturday July 26th and I have officially started my vegetarian diet for the next 45 days. Last night I got completely drunk at our fundraiser for our softball team. We played beer pong for 3 hours and the pitchers kept coming. I woke up this morning feeling absolute shitty! I wanted a greasy hamburger to fix my stomach, but that was out of the question. I got some french fries and some onion rings, and that's pretty much what I ate until dinner. Today was a long day, but hopefully tomorrow will be a lot better.
